Get the life you love Campaign (including National Career Development Week)

The Get the life you love Campaign (including National Career Development Week) (NCDW) an initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia has been funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) since 2007.

Now in its 6th year, the year long Campaign is known as the Get the life you love Campaign with a celebration week - National Career Development Week 2012 held from 14 - 20 May 2012.

In 2011, over 2,000,000 Australians attended careers events registered on the website.

The Get the life you love Campaign including National Career Development Week aims to encourage all Australians to take responsibility for managing and developing their own career journey in order to ‘get the life they love!’

It seeks to do this by:

• helping Australians to recognise that just about everything a person does in every area of life, planned and unplanned, can contribute towards the achievement of their goals and the realisation of their aspirations for their career and life; and
• highlighting that developing one’s career includes such things as:

- Learning new skills to improve on-the-job performance

- Stepping outside the box, taking chances

- Not resting on our laurels, but keeping on developing

  even when successful

- Persistence, taking advice from people we trust, and    

  working to a career plan.

How to get involved:

• If you are in career transition – attend a registered event (see the Event search on the website)
• If you are a careers practitioner (in any environment – school, university, TAFE, RTO, workplace, etc) just register your event on the website.

All registered event organisers receive free careers resources for use at their event. Event ideas, resources and templates are located on the Get the life you love Campaign website - www.getthelifeyoulove.com.au .

Careers events held at any time during the year can be registered on the website.
